This is a very important and timely announcement, as later this month, Lord Howe is to issue the UK Government’s statement on the PIP situation. He is likely to remind women to do research on the type and manufacturer of the breast implants they are to receive. The FDA carries out particularly stringent testing and post market surveillance, all of which should be carried out in the EU, but isn’t. Silimed breast implants are FDA approved, which should be of real concern for women who have breast implants or are about to.
On Friday 9th March, the FDA approved the Silimed silicone gel filled breast implants, both round and natural (anatomical shape). This is a very positive step for Silimed and a real sign of quality. Silimed become the first non-American company to received FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for silicone gel filled breast implants and to date, the ONLY company to receive approval for shaped breast implants.
