NEW Abdominal Cryotherapy Belt- Crunch Belt

Cryotherapy is using the benefits of ‘cold’ and ‘compression’ on healing body tissues.  Abdominal icing is designed to reduce pain, swelling and bruising on tissue after surgery. The abdominal icing belt applies cold temperatures to the surgical area, reducing the pain and swelling associated with the surgery. It alleviates discomfort and helps managing pain allowing reduced use pain killer medication. The Crunch Belt provides targeted cooling and can be used conveniently at home or on-the-go, allowing individuals to actively participate in their recovery process.

In a recent study, where one group used the Cryotherapy verses a standard care, only 4 of the 30 patients using the belt required additional analgesia compared to ALL 30 0f the control group. This is a very valuable tool for post-surgery patients.

The abdominal icing “Crunch belt” comprises of one freezer cold pack which is secured in place by the abdominal support belt. A 45 cm extension belt is also provided in the kit, along with the reusable special freezer bag which, even when frozen is malleable. The cold bag and abdominal belt can be positioned and shaped to relieve individual “pain points”. The cold pack should be frozen for up to 8 hours before use (between -18 and -22 degrees c). After frozen the gel in the cold pack will remain malleable, allowing for a specially adapted fit for any shape of abdomen helping to ensure optimum distribution of cold treatment. The cold pack should be worn for 20 minute sessions every 4 hours. After use, the cold pack should be removed from the belt and placed back into the freezer for the next use.
