Painful Vaginal Tightness

Involuntary contractions of the pelvic floor muscles often result in tightness of the vagina causing painful insertion of tampons or sexual intercourse.

Masters and Johnson advocated the use of vaginal dilators for patients with female sexual dysfunction, in order to interrupt the cycle of pain, fear, muscle spasm and more pain to build confidence in the privacy of their own bedroom.

Vaginal dilators do not solve the problem but rather assist the female to gain control of their understanding of how to relax and gradually increase the reception of a “foreign body” into their vaginal space.

There are many other medical indications where a medical practitioner, consultant, surgeon or sex councillor may advise the use of vaginal dilators, such as in vaginal repair following child birth, post surgical repair following surgery or radiotherapy.

Eurosurgical offer dilators in a set of 3 or 5 graduated in sizes with full instructions on their use and care.
