The original and still the most popular endometrial sampler. The Pipelle® is the most clinically documented device used for obtaining histological biopsy of the uterine mucosal lining. Used for screening for cancer and hyperplasia of endometrium.

Other uses include monitoring of hormone therapy, searching for luteal insufficiency, abnormal bleeding and bacteriological cultures to identify the causative organisms.

The Pipelle® H was developed at the Royal Free Hospital (A.Magos et al) for endometrial

sampling during outpatient diagnostic hysteroscopy, as it is associated with shorter procedure time and reduced patient
